Parents Evening

Just wanted to start of the newsletter with a massive Thank you to all the parents that attended our Parents Evening. It was a great evening celebrating all the children’s learning and development at the nursery, thank you to everyone who took time out to fill in a Parent Questionnaire which gave us an insight to all the things you feel we are doing well at and the things that need improving, it was a great help!

Valentines Workshop

We are excited to announce we will be holding a Valentines Day workshop on Tuesday 12th February 2019.We will be taking part in lots of different Valentines Day Activities for you and your loved ones, everyone is invited. The workshop will be from 3.00-4.00pm, we hope to see you all there! If your child is not registered to come in on a Tuesday they are more then welcome to come and join in with the fun, accompanied by a parent or carer.

Startwell Character

The Startwell character of the Month is Fay 5 a Day, the children will be taking part in activities to promote 5 day a day intake. Feel free to look at our Startwell books to see all the fun we have got up too, which are allocated in all the rooms!

Little Bears Construction theme

Do you have any Builders tools at home? We would love to have some fun with them! The children in little bears are having so much fun with their construction theme allowing them to be builders and take part in lots of fun activities around construction. If you can bring in any Builders tools you might have around the house that would be great, we promise to keep them safe and return them after use!

Weather appropriate clothing

As the weather gets cooler, we would just like to remind parents to bring in coats, hats, gloves, scarves and wellies for children as we are looking forward to having some outdoor play.

Learning at home

Pre-school children have book bags which allow them to borrow books from nursery and tell us all about the stories they have enjoyed reading with an adult in their reading diary. Little Bears and Babies have a ‘bear in the bag’ where children can take home a special pack which includes a teddy, a diary, recipe cards and games to play at home. Please ask a member of staff if you would like more information on learning together at home.

We are asking all parents of children who are currently toilet training to bring in plenty of spare pants and bottoms in case of any accidents. For guidance on toilet training and the expectation for each age, please read: https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/pregnancy-and-baby/potty-training-tips/

Is your child registered with a Dentist? It is important to have regular check-ups to prevent tooth decay and to check on your child’s oral health.

If you are concerned a child is at risk of significant harm you can report your concerns to a member of staff. For more information on the procedures we follow please see the flowcharts attached which are displayed in each room of the nursery.

Pre-school book bags
Each pre-schooler has their own book bag which can be used to borrow books from nursery. You can add a diary entry to your reading diary and tell us which books you have enjoyed reading together at home. When you have 3 entries in your reading diary- ask your key person for a sticker!

New to nursery?
We would love to learn more about you and your family. You are welcome to complete an All About Me book at home where you can stick in any photographs and tell us a little about yourself. We plan to laminate these books and read them with children at nursery.

30 hours funding?
If you are eligible to receive the 30 hours funding please ensure you have provided us with your 11 digit verification code by Friday 28th September 2018. If we have not received the code by this date your child will not be able to access the 30 hours funding for this term.

As a childcare provider we all have a responsibility to safeguard each and every child in our care. This means if we are concerned that a child is at risk of significant harm we will report our concerns to the relevant agencies. More information can be found in our safeguarding policy.
